For the Star Wars and/or Lego fanatic in all of us, Lego brought a new era of enjoyment when they agreed to a license with Lucasfilms, enabling them to produce a unique Star Wars line of Lego toys. The Lego Star Wars series has been available since 1999 and has been continually expanded upon. It was introduced with characters and vehicles from the original Star Wars trilogy (Episodes IV-VI). Since then there have been new sets and releases that encompass the prequel trilogy (Episodes I-III) and even the latest Clone Wars animated film and TV series.

All of the mainstays of the Star Wars franchise are available in Lego form. The characters, for the most part, maintain the typical Lego figure. That means that they have a square body with a block shaped head, with just slight variations such as colors and accessories like capes or hats/helmets. However, due to the wide discrepancy between the shapes and sizes of many of the Star Wars characters, unique and original molds were created for the Lego Star Wars line. Darth Vader for example, has his own easily recognizable head and head shape, as do the Stormtroopers, Yoda and many other aliens and characters. Yes, the lightsabers are available

with some figures as well!

Outside of the characters, Lego Star Wars also produces all of the recognizable and famous ships and vehicles from the franchise. This includes the ultra-popular Millennium Falcon, which has been tweaked and improved upon since its original release. Also available of course is the X-Wing fighter. Other available vehicles and ships include the Imperial AT-ST, TIE fighters, a Rebel Blcckade Runner (the starship you see being chased by the Imperial Star Destroyer in the opening scene of the original movie) and several speeder crafts. There are also location sets including the Death Star, the Hoth Rebel base and more.

In addition to these characters and vehicles, Lego has released a vast array of Star Wars products, including several additions to their Technic line, which is based on complex parts and movement and are less reminiscent the classic block look, feel and construction of Lego figures. Also released was a mini figure magnet series with a dozen Star Wars characters. Additionally, Lego released several Star Wars products for their Ultimate Collector Series, which are large and highly complex designs. The Millennium Falcon for this series, with over 5,000 pieces, was the largest and most complex Lego product ever released for the public.

The single most popular Lego Star Wars product however would have to be the videogame series. These videogames sold tremendously well and reached critical acclaim across both the Star Wars and videogame community. The first game was based on the prequel trilogy, and the second game was based on the original trilogy. Afterwards, both were released together in one complete addition.

Star Wars Legos are the greatest thing according to my 10 year old son. He has been building legos since he was about 5 and he has built the cars, the Bionicles and the other action sets but Star Wars Lego Sets are by far his favorite.

There are many Star Wars Legos to chose from, you can either be a good guy or join the Dark Side. He started out building some of the more basic Star Wars Lego Sets and is always looking for the next challenge. Every time we go to Target or WalMart we have to check and see if there is a new Star Wars Legos Set out.

Star Wars Legos come in sets as low as $10 up to hundreds of dollars. While the smaller Star Wars Lego Sets are relatively easy to build, usually having only a few bags of parts, some of the bigger Star Wars Legos have many bags of parts and several assembly manuals. On thing we found out the hard way, is the parts bags are usually logically grouped so that similar parts for a particular assembly portion are grouped together. Now when he builds a Star Wars Lego set, he puts each bag into a small bowl rather than dumping them all together in one big bowl.

The biggest Star Wars Lego Sets he has built so far must have had 400 pieces. I know it ran around $50 or so and kept him busy for several nights. Every so often he would come over and show me how some part went together and what it could do. One of my favorite Star Wars Lego Sets he built is one of the walkers (sorry, Star Wars fans, I know it's called something more complex than that). It was kind of hard to build because so many of the pieces were gray. It looks really cool on display.

One thing I have noticed about Star Wars Legos, and it probably holds true with any Legos set, is my son always wants to see what "guys" come with the kit. Some of the Star Wars Legos kits come with 4 or 5 guys. Very important in the Lego world.

One day when I thought we had bought all the Star Wars Lego Sets, I went on line to see what is available. Wow!! That's where I found out just how big some of the Star Wars Legos can be. You can even build the Death Star, if you can afford it and you have the patience. My son insists that he will buy it someday.

As for "guys", you can actually buy Star Wars Lego Kits of actual characters like Darth Vader, very cool.

I have always like Legos and all though I am not a Star Wars fan, I really like the fact that my son spends hours building them and is proud to display them. Besides, there is much more to life than video games.

Lego Star Wars - the Coolest Star Wars Stuff to Collect

LEGO is no longer just for kids! Star Wars fans were delighted when in 1999, the first Star Wars themed LEGO set was released to coincide with The Phantom Menance movie and became one of the coolest things for fans to own.

Very soon after, the LEGO sets for the newer movies (Episodes I to III) started to emerge following each movie. You could build many scenes from each movie or just play with the models of the ships or LEGO men characters.

There is no doubt that the vehicles were the most popular sets, and therefore LEGO went on to create the Ultimate Collector's Series which included more detail and were generally larger in size. Expanded Universe sets are in plans for the future based on the fictional background of the Star Wars universe.

I don't know about you buy I had Lego when I was a kid. And everyone else I know seems to have owned a set as well. And what's more my kids have it. It was just after the Second World War in 1949 that the familiar plastic brick with four or eight studs, which allowed them to be joined together, first appeared. Initially, it was only made for sale in Denmark, but Kristiansen had bigger plans for his creation. Lego soon spread throughout the world and nowadays, its hard to find a country where you can't buy it.Lego has always reflected contemporary events with special editions frequently being released. The technology has also moved on considerably and the Techniks range is more like an engineering project than a simple plastic block. How to Modify a Lego Star Wars Minifig

Lego rocks! Its seriously cool and one of the many things that makes it cool is the huge range of Lego Star Wars minifigs that you can buy, either in stores or from auction sites like EBay. But what if you want your Star Wars minifigs to be a little bit special? Well, one way I tried recently was to give an Imperial Stormtrooper a fantastic pair of red glow-in-the-dark eyes. Just right for an evil meanie.

So, how did I do it? Well, it was all based on an idea that I found at this web site http://www.bigclive.com/joule.htm Its a device called a Joule Thief – no that’s not someone who steal diamonds. A Joule Thief is like a torch without a case that will take either an AA or AAA battery in the holder and use whatever power is left in the battery to light a red LED. It can actually light any color of LED but Stormtroopers have got to have red eyes – right? The amazing thing about this circuit is that it will run right down to the bottom of the batteries charge if left running continuously, and will often provide a week of continuous low level light from a battery that would normally be considered dead.

So, first of all you'll need a LEGO Star Wars minifig to mod. I used an imperial stormtrooper since the helmet makes it easy to hide the electronics and the body is quite wide – just like me!

The other items you'll need are:
30 cm of 0.15 mm isolated copper wire.

A 1k ohm SMD resistor.

A general purpose swiching SMD transistor.

A red SMD LED.

A small ferrite bead, 6 mm outer diameter.

A minature push button.A piece of thin copper foil for battery terminals (I butchered this piece from a PCB).

A piece of thick paper to mount behind the LED in the helmet.and finaly a small piece of flexible dark red plastic film to go in front of the LED.

First you have to decapitate your Star Wars minifigs to allow for insertion of electronics and battery.

After taking off the head, cut the helmet down a bit to make room for the electronics in the helmet, and use a small tool like a dremel to carve out enough room in the upper and lower body to make room for the battery .

Next, cut a small hole in the back to prepare for insertion of a miniature push button in the top center.

Next, assemble your Joule Thief. A full set of instructions is given at bigclives website above, but its fairly straightforward. Just wind the ferrite bead with 0.15 mm copper wire and connect up the resistor and transistor in the centre. Two wires should be left sticking out to the left to connect up the LED and another two wires left for connecting up the push button and battery.

You then need to embed the button in the back of your Lego Star Wars miifig at the top center of the body.

Finally, place the red film inside the helmet and re-assemble the minifigs. Voila – you now have a customised Star Wars minifigs that will be the envy of all of your friends.

For those of you who don’t know what Lego Star Wars Minifigs are , and I had never heard of them until my 6 year old showed me some, then quite simply they are superb little renditions of the Star Wars characters made from Lego.

Lego Star Wars minifigs come in a huge range of designs and feature all of the main characters from both the Dark Side and the Rebel Alliance. They also cover all 6 of the Star Wars films and several other parts of the Star Wars universe. There are some designs available from the manufacturers, but for me the most remarkable thing about Lego Star Wars minifigs is the huge community that has sprung up dedicated to creating new and unique designs.

Many of these hand built minifigs are lovingly crafted from spare parts and include hand painted faces, metallic bodies and even light up eyes, light sabres and weapons. Some have hats, headpieces and even additional clothing – truly amazing! There have also been licensed Lego Star Wars minifigs which have featured unique head sculpts that differ from the traditional cylindrical shape. The first was Jar Jar Binks and Yoda and C-3PO have also made guest appearances.

Other variations of the standard Lego Star Wars minifigs included the light-up lightsaber (LULS) minifigures. These were released as a part of the more expensive Star Wars Episode III sets in 2005, and look like standard minifigs but contain internal electronics. When the head is pressed down, an LED lluminates the lightsaber blade – how cool is that!
